Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Design & Analysis to design production tooling and equipment for Space vehicles and ground operations on the Space Coast, FL. You will apply mechanical design and analysis to tooling for manufacturing, test, and assembly, with focus on reliability and manufacturability.

The role requires hands-on experience with CAD, FEM, and DFMA, plus collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver cradle-to-grave tooling solutions under tight schedules.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience with tooling, fixtures, and design for manufacturing for production, assembly and test.
• FEM and structural analysis experience plus hand calculations.
• CAD-based design experience for modeling and drafting.
• DFM and DFA expertise for manufacturability and assembly.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerances and stack-up analysis.
• Experience with CNC, welding, sheet metal, lifting/rigging, inspection.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Design production, development, test, integration, and advanced manufacturing tooling for Blue Engines, Lunar, and New Glenn units.
• Integrate mechanical design and analysis concepts across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Interpret ASME Y14.5 drafting standards in drawings.
• Develop fixtures, material handlers, rotisseries, environmental chambers, and custom machines.
• Collaborate with designers, manufacturing and integration engineers to optimize cradle-to-grave metrics.
• Manage projects including vendor selection, fabrication, inspection, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Set and maintain schedules and budgets to ensure timely completion.
