Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an experienced tooling engineer to design production, development, test, and integration tooling for aerospace manufacturing. You will apply mechanical design principles and drafting standards to create fixtures and custom machines for multiple programs, collaborating with engineers to improve quality, cost, and cycle time.

Strong background in FEM/structural analysis, CAD modeling, and DFA/DFM is required, along with hands-on experience with manufacturing processes

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years designing, building, and commissioning tooling and fixtures for manufacturing.
• Experience with FEM and structural analysis including hand calculations.
• CAD-based design experience for modeling and drafting.
• DFM and DFA expertise from development to production.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerancing, and materials.
• Experience with CNC machining, mills, lathes, welding, sheet metal, lifting/rigging, assembly.

Responsibilities

• Design tooling and equipment for Blue Engines, Lunar, and New Glenn units; cradle-to-grave metrics consideration.
• Collaborate with component designers and engineers to solve manufacturing challenges.
• Apply ASME Y14.5 standards when creating drawings.
• Manage projects including vendor selection, fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning.
• Set and manage schedules and budgets to ensure timely completion.
