Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior tooling engineer to design production, development, test, and advanced manufacturing tooling for the Blue Engines, Lunar, and New Glenn programs. You will work with engineers to integrate mechanical design principles and deliver tools across multiple facilities.

The role requires 5+ years of tooling experience, CAD proficiency, FEM analysis, and DFM/DFA expertise. Relocation is provided; US-specific work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years’ design, build, and commissioning tooling, fixtures, or custom machines for manufacturing, assembly, and test.
• Experience with FEM and complex structural analysis.
• Proven CAD design experience for modeling and drafting.
• DFM and DFA expertise, transitioning designs to production.
• GD&T and tolerance/stack-up analysis knowledge.
• U.S. citizen or eligible for US work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Design production, development, test, integration, and advanced manufacturing tooling for Blue Engines, Lunar, and New Glenn units.
• Integrate mechanical design concepts in a fast-paced environment with varying project sizes.
• Create drawings per ASME Y14.5 drafting standards.
• Address diverse design challenges across fixtures, material handling, rotisseries, and custom machines.
• Collaborate with component designers, manufacturing, and integration engineering to optimize cradle-to-grave metrics.
• Manage projects from vendor selection to installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Set schedules and budgets to ensure on-time project completion.
