Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) invites rising engineers to join our Mechanical Reliability and Project Engineering co-op program at our Wallula, WA mill. You will gain hands-on experience improving safety, efficiency, and equipment performance while supporting mill operations.

You will work with cross-functional teams, use AutoCAD and our CMMS (Trident), and contribute to capital projects from planning through completion.

Qualifications

• GPA 3.0/4.0 required and must be a permanent U.S. resident with a valid driver''s license.
• Majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field and have completed freshman year or will have completed freshman year at time of co-op.
• Preferred: active involvement with the paper foundation at listed schools and states.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical reliability assignments to improve mill safety, efficiency, and equipment performance.
• Apply maintenance techniques such as lubrication practices, alignment, vibration analysis, and root cause failure analysis.
• Collect, analyze, and use mill data to support process optimization, troubleshooting, operational cost tracking, quality, product safety, and business decision-making.
• Coordinate improvement efforts with engineering, maintenance, operations and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Assist with capital projects from funding request through completion, including planning, estimating, engineering design exposure, contractor field oversight, and project coordination.
• Additional duties as requested by management.
