Job summary

Fresh Thyme Farmers Market is seeking a Meat Cutter to stock, cut, and package meat and seafood products while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. You will assist customers, ensure accurate labeling, and uphold department procedures in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of grocery/meat experience; journeyman or apprenticeship is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years professional experience in retail/meat departments.
• Experience in natural foods a plus.
• Journeyman cutter or apprenticeship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Stocks meat cases, including presentation, facing, filling, and pricing accuracy.
• Ensure cleanliness of meat aisles, storage, and work areas; sweep and sanitize.
• Monitor rotation and expiration of meat products.
• Assist customers with purchases and product selection; upsell where appropriate.
• Receive, inspect, and log shipments for accuracy and quality.
• Operate cutting and packaging equipment safely (knives, scales, wrappers).
• Maintain proper temperatures during production and storage of meat and seafood.
• Prepare meat and seafood items per recipe standards.
• Maintain organization and dating of products in cooler and freezer.
• Follow safety practices and wear mesh gloves while cutting.
