Job summary

Save-A-Lot is seeking a Meat Cutter to operate the meat department, cut and package beef, pork and poultry, and ensure top-quality displays and customer service.

The role requires 18+ years, a high school diploma or equivalent, and completion of the Save-A-Lot Meat Cutter Training Program within 3 months. Experience with knives and power equipment is preferred; strong teamwork and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Save-A-Lot Meat Cutter Training Program within 3 months.
• Previous experience cutting meat using hand tools and power equipment preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Must be dependable and flexible.
• Must adhere to uniform dress code.

Responsibilities

• Works under the direction of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
• Cuts and/or packages authorized beef, pork and poultry items using knives and power equipment according to Save-A-Lot policies.
• Wraps, weighs and prices cuts of meat.
• Labels packages according to COOL, USDA and Save-A-Lot standards.
• Ensures displays and case signs are updated and meat is merchandised to maximize sales.
• Maintains proper date rotation for dated and undated products per Save-A-Lot policy.
• Receives, inspects, and stores meat to maintain cold chain and quality.
• Adheres to all SAVE-A-LOT policies (COOL, Food Safety, Sanitation, etc.).
• May assist with product ordering and other perishable/non-perishable duties.
