Job summary

Save-A-Lot is seeking a Meat Cutter to maintain meat department standards, cut and prepare standard cuts, and deliver top customer service aligned with the merchandising plan. You will follow the Meat Cutter Resource Manual, ensure proper dating, labeling, and display presentation, and comply with COOL, USDA and Save‑A‑Lot policies.

Requirements include 18+, high school diploma, and Meat Cutter training within 3 months.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Save‑A‑Lot Meat Cutter Training Program within 3 months.
• Previous experience cutting meat including using hand tools and power equipment preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent Customer Service Skills.
• Must be dependable and flexible.
• Must adhere to uniform dress code.

Responsibilities

• Works under the direction of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
• Cuts and/or packages authorized beef, pork and poultry items using knives and power equipment.
• Wraps, weighs and prices cuts of meat.
• Labels packages according to COOL, USDA and Save‑A‑Lot standards.
• Ensures displays and case signs are updated and meat is merchandised to maximize sales.
• Maintains proper date rotation for products in display and cooler.
• Prepares meat cuts for display to be attractive to customers.
• Receives, inspects, and stores meat to maintain cold chain and quality.
• Follows all Save‑A‑Lot policies including COOL, Food Safety, Sanitation, inventory processes, and cutting lists.
• Performs other perishable/non-perishable duties as needed to maintain store performance.
• Protects company property, funds and merchandise.
