Job summary

SpartanNash, Ada, Michigan, is seeking a full-time Meat Cutter to properly cut meats, prepare value-added products, and maintain a clean, well-stocked department. You will cut and weigh steaks and chops, follow recipes, and ensure products meet quality standards.

The role requires reading/writing ability, basic math, and 1 year of retail or related experience; prior meat-cutting experience is preferred. Strong customer service and suggestive selling skills are beneficial.

Qualifications

• 1 year retail or related experience preferred.
• Prior meat cutter or apprentice experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

• Cut and weigh steaks, chops, etc. for individual servings.
• Produce value-added products per guidelines.
• Cut, trim, and bone carcass sections or prime cuts to cooking cuts.
• Follow recipes to grind and tray meats and make sausage and other products.
• Price, date, wrap and bag meat products per guidelines.
• Fill, rotate and merchandise shelves, cases and displays.
• Notify the manager if products and supplies need to be ordered.
• Receive, unload, and stock merchandise.
• Know products carried and variations in price, taste, prep, use.
• Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, well-stocked department.
• Follow PPE and Food Safety and Cleaning Guidelines.
• Follow guest experience guidelines.
• Possible tasks in other departments as needed.
