Job summary

Cantex in Frisco, TX is seeking an experienced MDS Coordinator to oversee the RAI process and ensure Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement while supporting high-quality patient care. The role requires an active Texas nursing license and MDS experience.

You will coordinate the interdisciplinary team, ensure timely MDS assessments, and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations. AANAC certification and HHSC training are expected within one year.

Qualifications

• Active Texas nursing license (RN or LVN).
• Minimum 1 year of MDS experience required.
• Minimum 2 years of LTC experience preferred.
• Completion certificate through HHSC RUG Online Training for Nursing Facilities.
• AANAC RAI Certification to be completed within 1 year of employment.
• Strong communication, documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret regulations and medical records.
• Ability to present information to department heads and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with all State and Federal Medicaid/Medicare rules.
• Assess pre-admission paperwork for medical necessity.
• Attend daily standup meetings and coordinate weekly reimbursement meetings.
• Audit Clinical Records and train staff on documentation guidelines.
• Obtain Medicare qualifying diagnoses and update changes.
• Initiate and update physician certifications for Medicare Part A Patients.
• Complete all required MDS assessments within timelines.
• Review nursing reports for condition changes and coordinate with Financial Manager.
• Prepare for Medicaid audits and ensure accurate billing.
• Strive to meet budgeted rate expectations.
• Uphold policies for abuse prevention and patient safety.
