Job summary

Casa Maria Healthcare in Roswell, NM seeks an experienced MDS Coordinator to manage the RAI process and care management from admission to discharge in alignment with federal, state, and facility policies. You will work under the Director of Nursing and VP of Clinical Reimbursement to coordinate information systems and education for the clinical team.

You will collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team to plan, time MDS assessments, and ensure documentation supports coding while maintaining

Qualifications

• RN or LVN license required.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred.
• Knowledge of Case-Mix, Medicare PPS, and Medicaid reimbursement.
• Understanding of OBRA regulations and Minimum Data Set.
• Knowledge of the care planning process.
• Experience with MDS 3.0 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Team to assess resident needs and schedule MDS assessments and care plan reviews.
• Decide on completing or not completing additional MDS assessments based on clinical criteria.
• Assist with daily stand-up meetings to review resident care and set assessment reference dates.
• Comply with federal and state regulations for MDS processes.
• Monitor MDS and care plan documentation in the medical record to support coding.
• Maintain current MDS status according to state and federal guidelines.
• Ensure timely data entry into computerized MDS programs.
• Accurately code MDS using medical records, observation, and staff/family interviews.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.
