Job summary

KBR Defense & Intel internship program invites highly motivated students to work on MBSE and SysML modeling for national security projects. Interns gain hands-on experience, collaborate with engineers, and contribute to meaningful, real-world challenges during Summer 2027.

The internship is paid and runs for 12 weeks, averaging 40 hours per week, with mentorship from experts and opportunities to connect with technologists and executives.

Qualifications

• Rising junior, senior, or graduate student pursuing an engineering degree.
• ABET-accredited engineering program preferred.
• Major fields: Systems and Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, or related Technical field.
• Must work well in both a team environment and independently.
• Must have excellent computer skills.
• Must have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement.
• Self-motivated; takes ownership of projects and issues, and following issues through to resolution.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Explore Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches for defense applications.
• Develop curriculum to train engineers in systems theory and MBSE.
• Gain a wide breadth of experience in SysML modeling to support MBSE education.
• Selected interns will be provided with mentoring from experienced professionals.
