Job summary

Triple-S Steel Holdings, Inc. is seeking a motivated Material Handler to ensure safe, productive material movement and storage of structural steel products. You will follow safety standards, meet daily productivity goals, and assist with equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine material or equipment needs.
• Meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company.
• Plan and organize work activities independently or in a team environment.
• Develop knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures.
• Maintain inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations.
• Demonstrate basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• May be required to demonstrate strong customer relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe methods of work and report unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
• Move steel to/from storage, production areas, loading docks, and delivery vehicles by hand, forklift, overhead crane, or other equipment.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds for up to 25 feet and handle loads up to 5 feet high.
• Apply proper bundling techniques.
• Configure loads based on planned routes with multiple stops.
• Maximize trailer load capacity without sacrificing safety.
• Maintain and safely operate tools and equipment (e.g., tape measures, calipers, bands, forklifts, cranes).
• Determine safety issues pertaining to equipment and report them promptly.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Maintain spatial orientation and awareness around moving objects and people.
• Attend required company meetings; other duties as assigned.
