Job summary

Roche is seeking a Field Engineering Specialist - Mass Spectrometry to provide on-site service, maintenance, and installation of cobas i601 systems across laboratories in Washington. The role requires hands-on repair skills, fault isolation, and collaboration with national teams to resolve escalations.

The candidate should have a strong background in analytical instrumentation, mass spectrometry, and related hardware, with readiness to travel up to and beyond 50% of the time.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or technical training with relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree plus experience in servicing complex hardware/software.
• Experience repairing or servicing mechanical/system hardware and software, preferably in analytical instrumentation.
• Willingness to travel, including overnight trips, is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide field engineering support for cobas i601 mass spectrometry systems across your territory.
• Perform hardware maintenance on mass spectrometry hardware and related components.
• Execute preventive maintenance, cleaning, oiling, and component replacements to optimize MS performance.
• Diagnose hardware, electronic, software and gas/fluidic failures using diagnostic data and logs.
• Collaborate with customers and FAS teams on routine workflows and provide guidance on maintenance practices.
• Coordinate with National Engineers on high-complexity accounts and escalations.
• Maintain customer relationships, perform PMs, and document service activities in Roche CRM; participate in after-hours support as needed.
