Job summary

Roche Holding AG is seeking a Field Engineering Specialist – Mass Spectrometry to service cobas i601 systems across California laboratories. The role emphasizes hands-on repair, installation, calibration, and preventive maintenance in customer sites, with close collaboration with regional and national engineering teams.

You will diagnose mechanical, electronic, software, and gas/fluidic issues, support routine workflows, and help maintain high uptime while traveling within the territory,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent technical training
• 5 years of progressive experience repairing or servicing mechanical/system hardware and software, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 1–2 years of experience
• Successfully training or certification as defined by RD Services Leadership and policy
• Ability to travel, including some overnight travel

Responsibilities

• Deliver Regional Field Engineering Support for cobas i601 MS systems in customer labs across assigned territory
• Perform hardware maintenance on MS hardware including UHV pumps and ESI/APCI sources
• Execute preventive maintenance and optimize MS performance
• Diagnose hardware, electronic, software, and gas/fluidic failures using logs and TIC/mass spectra
• Provide Applications & Workflow support and guidance on operational practices and vacuum integrity
• Collaborate with National Engineers on complex escalations and major account rollouts
• Maintain customer relationships, perform PMs, and document service activities in the CRM; participate in on‑call rotations
