Job summary

Roche seeks a Field Engineering Specialist - Mass Spectrometry to service cobas i601 systems across California laboratories. You will perform hands‑on repair, installation and routine maintenance with a focus on system uptime and performance.

The role involves collaboration with National Field Engineering Specialists on escalations, travel as needed, and maintaining thorough service documentation in Roche's CRM. A strong technical background in analytical instrumentation is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and/or technical training as described in role requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry or related field preferred for advanced positions.
• Experience in servicing analytical instrumentation or mass spectrometry is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver regional field engineering support, servicing, repairing, calibrating and installing cobas i601 mass spectrometry systems and automation.
• Perform hardware maintenance on mass spectrometry hardware including vacuum systems and LC components.
• Execute preventive maintenance including servicing pumps and ion sources to maintain performance.
• Diagnose hardware, electronic, software and gas/fluidic issues using diagnostic data and logs.
• Provide applications and workflow support to customer operators and work with FAS teams on escalations.
• Collaborate with National Engineers on high‑complexity accounts and major rollouts.
• Maintain customer relationships and service documentation in Roche's CRM; participate in on‑call rotations.
