Synectics Inc. seeks an experienced Masonry Estimator / Project Manager to oversee estimating, preconstruction, project execution, financial performance, client relationships, and closeout for masonry projects in the Fort Wayne area.

The ideal candidate will have 9+ years in construction with strong masonry estimating and PM experience, and the ability to lead projects from bid to completion while ensuring safety, quality, and profitability.

Qualifications

  • 9+ years of progressive construction experience.
  • 3+ years of customer-facing experience.
  • Strong masonry estimating and project management experience.
  • Ability to interpret project costs, labor reports, and financial information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Responsibilities

  • Review plans, specs, and contract documents to determine project scope.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for masonry projects.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess conditions.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
  • Analyze bidding opportunities and develop bid strategies.
  • Lead project turnover meetings and communicate requirements to field teams.
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, subcontractors, and labor resources.
  • Monitor budgets, productivity, and financial performance.
  • Review and approve project invoices and maintain contract docs.
  • Manage RFIs, schedules of values, and monthly billings.
  • Develop and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Oversee project closeout, liens, warranties, and record drawings.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Masonry Estimator / Project Manager to join a growing construction team. This position will oversee estimating, preconstruction, project execution, financial performance, client relationships, and closeout for masonry construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong masonry estimating and project management experience, along with the ability to manage projects from initial bid through completion.

Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Preconstruction
  • Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for masonry projects.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and logistics.
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
  • Analyze bidding opportunities and develop effective bid strategies.
  • Review insurance, bonding, and contract requirements.
Project Management
  • Lead project turnover meetings and communicate project requirements to field and project teams.
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, subcontractors, and labor resources.
  • Work with superintendents and project teams to optimize sequencing, logistics, and productivity.
  • Monitor project budgets, labor productivity, material costs, and overall financial performance.
  • Review and approve project invoices.
  • Maintain accurate project and contract documentation.
  • Manage RFIs, schedules of values, monthly billings, and contract administration.
Client & Business Development
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, suppliers, and trade partners.
  • Communicate with clients and project stakeholders to ensure expectations are met.
  • Support business development through relationship management and identifying future project opportunities.
Project Closeout & Safety
  • Oversee project closeout, including punch lists, warranties, lien waivers, record drawings, and required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote teamwork, continuous improvement, quality, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 9+ years of progressive construction experience, including roles such as Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Superintendent, Foreman, or similar.
  • 3+ years of customer-facing experience.
  • Strong experience with construction estimating and project management.
  • Ability to interpret project costs, labor reports, productivity reports, and financial information.
  • Strong communication, presentation, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
Preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience with Procore.
  • Business development and client relationship management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of contract administration, billing, RFIs, and schedules of values.
  • Familiarity with AIA contract documents, including A401, A121, and A111.
