Job summary

Masonry Repair Services, a division of Lerch Brothers, LLC, seeks a Construction Estimator/Project Manager to estimate costs for masonry projects and manage them from inception to completion.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years in construction estimating and project management, with masonry knowledge and proficiency in estimating software. A valid driver's license and OSHA 30 are preferred, with a bachelor’s degree advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in construction estimating and project management.
  • In-depth knowledge of masonry construction methods, materials, and building codes; ability to read blueprints and specs.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, AccuBid) and standard PM software.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and communication skills; highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Valid driver's license; OSHA 30 preferred; Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate and bid masonry projects from $15,000 to $650,000, prepare competitive proposals.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, oversee execution from start to closeout.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, subs, and field personnel.
  • Manage budgets, expenses, change orders, and subcontract/purchase orders.
  • Ensure safety, quality, and compliance with building codes.

Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Estimator/Project Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of masonry projects ranging from $15,000 to $650,000, preparing competitive bids, and effectively managing those projects from inception to completion. This role requires a strong understanding of masonry construction techniques, materials, and labor, paired with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Bidding

  • Review construction plans, specifications, and other bid documents to accurately assess project requirements.
  • Perform detailed take-offs of masonry materials, including brick, block, stone, mortar, and reinforcement.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and material suppliers.
  • Calculate labor costs, equipment costs, and overhead expenses.
  • Prepare comprehensive and competitive bid proposals, ensuring all project scope and client requirements are addressed.
  • Participate in bid reviews and client presentations.
  • Maintain an organized system for tracking and managing bid opportunities and historical data.

Project Management

  • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring strict adherence to timelines and milestones.
  • Oversee all aspects of masonry projects, including planning, execution, and closeout.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial goals are met.
  • Negotiate and manage subcontracts and purchase orders while developing strong subcontractor relations.
  • Ensure all projects comply with safety regulations, quality standards, and relevant building codes.
  • Proactively identify and resolve project issues and challenges.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
  • Prepare and submit accurate project reports, documentation, and manage change orders and their impact on scope, schedule, and budget.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in construction estimating and project management. A proven track record of successfully bidding and managing projects of various sizes and complexities is required.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of masonry construction methods, materials, and relevant building codes. Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, AccuBid) and standard project management software.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills, paired with excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Certifications & Licensing: A valid driver's license is required. OSHA 30 certification is highly preferred.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree is not strictly required but is highly preferred.
  • Work Style: Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
