Job summary

The Hagerman Group in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking an experienced Masonry Estimator/Project Manager to lead estimating, planning, and financial performance of masonry construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

The role requires strong estimating and project management skills, client relationship management, and a commitment to safety and quality on schedule and within budget.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive construction or architectural design experience in roles such as Estimator, Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Superintendent, Foreman, or related positions.
  • Minimum 3 years of customer-facing experience.
  • Strong understanding of project estimating and construction project management.

Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and contract requirements to determine project scope and obligations.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates for masonry projects.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to evaluate project logistics and construction conditions.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
  • Analyze bidding opportunities and recommend strategies to maximize project success.
  • Identify insurance, bonding, and contract requirements.
  • Lead project turnover meetings and communicate project expectations to field and project teams.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, subcontractors, and labor resources.
  • Collaborate with superintendents and project teams to optimize project sequencing, logistics, and productivity.
  • Monitor project budgets, labor productivity, material costs, and overall financial performance.
  • Approve project invoices and maintain accurate contract documentation.
  • Manage RFIs, schedule of values, monthly billings, and contract administration activities.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and trade partners.
  • Partner with clients and project stakeholders to ensure expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Support business development efforts through relationship building and identification of future opportunities.
  • Oversee project closeout activities, including punch lists, warranties, lien waivers, record drawings, and required documentation.
  • Promote and uphold company safety policies and procedures on every project.
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

We are seeking an experienced Masonry Estimator/Project Manager to join our growing construction team. This role is responsible for leading the estimating, planning, execution, and financial performance of masonry construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

The ideal candidate combines strong estimating expertise, project management skills, and client relationship management to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

What You'll Do
  • Review project plans, specifications, and contract requirements to determine project scope and obligations.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive construction or architectural design experience in roles such as Estimator, Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Superintendent, Foreman, or related positions.
  • Minimum of 3 years of customer-facing experience.
  • Strong understanding of project estimating and construction project management.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and expanded criminal background checks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and construction/project management software.
  • Ability to interpret project costs, labor reports, productivity reports, and financial information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architectural Design, Engineering, advanced Masonry Trades experience, or a related field.
  • Experience with Procore project management, CMiC accounting, Tradesmen’s Masonry Estimating, or related software.
  • Experience in business development and client relationship management.
  • Advanced knowledge of contract administration, billing processes, RFIs, and schedules of values.
  • Working knowledge of AIA contract documents, including A401, A121, and A111.
