Job summary

HDR is seeking an experienced Coastal & Navigable Waterways Practice Leader to shape HDR’s maritime services. You will bridge ports, state agencies, and the U.S.

Army Corps of Engineers, delivering complex navigational and environmental studies with a focus on quality and schedule. The role sits within HDR’s Transportation Business Group and emphasizes leadership, client relations, and national market development for waterfront infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in coastal engineering or related discipline.
  • 15+ years of coastal engineering or planning experience.
  • USACE permitting knowledge.
  • Professional registration preferred (PE, PTOE, PMP).
  • Experience bridging design, regulation and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain technical competencies across staff.
  • Collaborate with market leaders to drive innovative maritime solutions.
  • Identify opportunities and pursue new work with Area Business Development.
  • Oversee project delivery and ensure quality standards.
  • Maintain staff qualifications and marketing materials.
  • Lead workshare communications and tool development.
  • Mentor staff and advance professional development.
  • Manage major maritime projects and client relations.
  • Represent HDR with professional organizations.
  • Uphold HDR values and ethics.
