Job summary

Orion Marine Construction is seeking a Crane Operator to support marine construction sites. Responsibilities include operating hydraulic cranes on land and barges, unloading and assembling hoisting equipment, and moving loads safely under the direction of foremen.

The role requires NCCCO certification and 2+ years of crane operation experience, with emphasis on safety, daily inspections, and collaboration with welders, laborers, and other skilled crew members on site.

Qualifications

• Certification by NCCCO or accredited agency is required.
• Two+ years crane operations experience on land or barges preferred.
• Ability to read crane load charts to determine load and radius capabilities.
• General knowledge of construction rigging (slings, chokers, spreader bars).

Responsibilities

• Operate hydraulic rubber tire or track crane with multi-part or single-line hoist.
• Unload and assemble crane equipment for marine construction activities.
• Move loads over designated areas in a safe, smooth manner.
• Use crane controls to rotate chassis and position loads.
• Inspect crane daily for safety issues and maintain equipment.
• Assist in installation of booms and rigging; perform routine maintenance.
• Work with foremen, welders and crew to complete projects safely and efficiently.
