Job summary

Owens Corning is offering a Manufacturing Engineering Spring Co-op at multiple US-based plants for about 16 weeks. You’ll be mentored by seasoned technical specialists and contribute to projects addressing safety, process and product improvements, productivity, and waste elimination.

You’ll develop skills in troubleshooting, data-driven decision making, and leadership, with opportunities for further internships or full-time roles after graduation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field (or related).
• Previous internships/co-ops in a manufacturing setting are preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership in professional, service, or student organizations.
• Willingness and flexibility to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing projects during the 16-week co-op.
• Focus on safety leadership and process/product improvements.
• Help drive productivity gains and waste elimination.
• Apply TPM and data-based decision making to improve operations.

Manufacturing Engineering Spring Co-op Description

During the Spring term, you will be placed as a Manufacturing Engineering Spring Co-op at an Owens Corning manufacturing plant for approximately 16 weeks. You will be mentored by seasoned technical specialists and provided value added projects throughout this period. Projects will give you hands‑on experience with the technical issues that you'll face in the production environment, and they will cover the following topics:

• Safety leadership
• Process and product improvement
• Productivity increases
• Waste elimination
• Total Productive Maintenance

In addition, you will develop the following skills necessary to be an effective manufacturing leader:

• Troubleshoot and problem solve designs, materials, or processes
• Leverage analytics & data‑based decision making
• Enhance leadership capabilities and lead teams
• Effectively communicate and elevate performance of self and others
• Strengthen technical expertise
• Understand customer‑driven focus

At the conclusion of the internship, participants may be offered an additional internship or full‑time employment in one of Owens Corning's Operations Leadership Development Programs, following graduation.

Selection Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant major and/or field
• Previous relevant internships/co-ops in a manufacturing setting
• Demonstrated leadership in professional, service, or social organizations
• Willingness and flexibility to relocate

Location of Assignment

Participants are based at various manufacturing sites in the US.
