Job summary

Owens Corning invites motivated students to join its Manufacturing Engineering Spring Co‑op for a roughly 16‑week term at US manufacturing sites. You will be mentored by seasoned specialists and work on hands-on projects spanning safety leadership, process improvements, productivity gains, waste elimination, and TPM.

You will also develop leadership, analytical, and communication skills, with potential for an additional internship or full‑time role in Owens Corning’s Operations Leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field or related major.
  • Previous internships/co-ops in manufacturing preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership in professional, service, or student organizations.
  • Willingness and flexibility to relocate within the US.

Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing projects during a 16-week Co-op at Owens Corning plants.
  • Work with seasoned technical specialists on value-added projects.
  • Develop safety leadership, process improvement and productivity skills.
  • Learn to leverage analytics and data-based decision making.

Manufacturing Engineering Spring Co‑op Description

During the Spring term, you will be placed as a Manufacturing Engineering Spring Co‑op at an Owens Corning manufacturing plant for approximately 16 weeks. You will be mentored by seasoned technical specialists and provided value added projects throughout this period. Projects will give you hands‑on experience with the technical issues that you’ll face in the production environment, and they will cover the following topics:

  • Safety leadership
  • Process and product improvement
  • Productivity increases
  • Waste elimination
  • Total Productive Maintenance

In addition, you will develop the following skills necessary to be an effective manufacturing leader:

  • Troubleshoot and problem solve designs, materials, or processes
  • Leverage analytics & data-based decision making
  • Enhance leadership capabilities and lead teams
  • Effectively communicate and elevate performance of self and others
  • Strengthen technical expertise
  • Understand customer‑driven focus

At the conclusion of the internship, participants may be offered an additional internship or full‑time employment in one of Owens Corning’s Operations Leadership Development Programs, following graduation.

Selection Criteria
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant major and/or field
  • Previous relevant internships/co‑ops in a manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated leadership in professional, service, or social organizations
  • Willingness and flexibility to relocate

Location of Assignment:

Participants are based at various manufacturing sites in the US.
