Job summary

Owens Corning is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Fall Co-op to join a US-based plant for approximately 16 weeks. You will be mentored by seasoned professionals and work on projects covering safety leadership, process and product improvement, productivity gains, waste elimination, and TPM.

You’ll develop skills in troubleshooting, data‑driven decision making, leadership, and effective communication while contributing to real manufacturing challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field
  • Previous internships/co-ops in a manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated leadership in professional, service, or social organizations
  • Willingness and flexibility to relocate

Responsibilities

  • Participate in manufacturing plant projects on safety, process and product improvement, productivity, waste elimination and TPM
  • Develop leadership and analytics skills
  • Support cross‑functional teams and communicate effectively to elevate performance
  • Contribute to hands‑on learning and project work in a production environment

Manufacturing Engineering Fall Co-op Description

During the Fall term, you will be placed as a Manufacturing Engineering Fall Co-op at an Owens Corning manufacturing plant for approximately 16 weeks. You will be mentored by seasoned technical specialists and provided value added projects throughout this period. Projects will give you hands-on experience with the technical issues that you'll face in the production environment, and they will cover the following topics:

  • Safety leadership
  • Process and product improvement
  • Productivity increases
  • Waste elimination
  • Total Productive Maintenance

In addition, you will develop the following skills necessary to be an effective manufacturing leader:

  • Troubleshoot and problem solve designs, materials, or processes
  • Leverage analytics & data-based decision making
  • Enhance leadership capabilities and lead teams
  • Effectively communicate and elevate performance of self and others
  • Strengthen technical expertise
  • Understand customer-driven focus

At the conclusion of the internship, participants may be offered an additional internship or full-time employment in one of Owens Corning's Operations Leadership Development Programs, following graduation.

Selection Criteria
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant major and/or field
  • Previous relevant internships/co-ops in a manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated leadership in professional, service, or social organizations
  • Willingness and flexibility to relocate
Location of Assignment

Participants are based at various manufacturing sites in the US.
