Job summary

Owens Corning invites students to join its Manufacturing Engineering Fall Co-op program. You will be placed at a US manufacturing site for about 16 weeks, mentored by experienced specialists and assigned value-added projects addressing production challenges.

You’ll develop skills in troubleshooting, data-driven decision making, leadership, and communication while contributing to safety, productivity, and waste reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Demonstrated leadership in academic or volunteer activities.
• Willingness to relocate and participate in a multi-site program.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing engineers with hands-on projects at OC facilities.
• Contribute to safety leadership and process/product improvements.
• Assist with productivity initiatives and waste elimination efforts.
• Engage in maintenance initiatives and data-driven decision making.
• Present findings and recommendations to the team.

Manufacturing Engineering Fall Co-op Description

During the Fall term, you will be placed as a Manufacturing Engineering Fall Co-op at an Owens Corning manufacturing plant for approximately 16 weeks. You will be mentored by seasoned technical specialists and provided value added projects throughout this period. Projects will give you hands on experience with the technical issues that you'll face in the production environment, and they will cover the following topics:

• Safety leadership


• Process and product improvement


• Productivity increases


• Waste elimination


• Total Productive Maintenance

In addition, you will develop the following skills necessary to be an effective manufacturing leader:

• Troubleshoot and problem solve designs, materials, or processes


• Leverage analytics & data-based decision making


• Enhance leadership capabilities and lead teams


• Effectively communicate and elevate performance of self and others


• Strengthen technical expertise


• Understand customer-driven focus

At the conclusion of the internship, participants may be offered an additional internship or full-time employment in one of Owens Corning's Operations Leadership Development Programs, following graduation.

Selection Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant major and/or field


• Previous relevant internships/co-ops in a manufacturing setting


• Demonstrated leadership in professional, service, or social organizations


• Willingness and flexibility to relocate

Location of Assignment

Participants are based at various manufacturing sites in the US.
