Job summary

IDEX, through its Airtech business unit, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Maryland to design and optimize high-precision manufacturing processes for rotational equipment. You will collaborate with production, quality, and facilities teams to introduce new products and improve existing lines.

You will develop tooling, write work instructions, and lead lean improvement initiatives while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; post graduate degree a plus.
• 3+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma/KANBAN or Kaizen methodology.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design.
• Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards related to manufacturing.
• Experience with modeling and design (e.g., Creo Parametric or SolidWorks).
• Experience with PLC programming, controls systems, and electronics.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve safety, efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
• Evaluates manufacturing processes based on cycle time, TAKT time, and quality criteria, such as efficiency and speed; manages process-improvement projects
• Designs tools, fixtures and machines used to assemble, manufacture and inspect products.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures for air blower assembly and production.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products, providing input on design changes to improve production efficiency.
• Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs for production equipment and tooling.
• Monitor KPIs such as cycle times, downtime, and defect rates to identify improvement opportunities.
• Utilize lean manufacturing principles and 80/20 tools to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
