Job summary

IDEX Corporation in Maryland is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement and optimize manufacturing processes for highly engineered rotational equipment. You will collaborate with production, quality, engineering and facilities to reduce waste, improve quality and safety.

The role requires 3+ years in Manufacturing Engineering, strong lean/six sigma skills, and experience with Creo/SolidWorks and PLC controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; post graduate degree a plus.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma/KANBAN or Kaizen methodology.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design.
  • Experience with modeling and design (Creo Parametric or SolidWorks).
  • Experience with PLC programming, controls systems, and electronics.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards related to manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve safety, efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes based on cycle time, TAKT time, and quality criteria; manages process-improvement projects.
  • Designs tools, fixtures and machines used to assemble, manufacture and inspect products.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures for air blower assembly and production.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products, providing input on design changes to improve production efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs for production equipment and tooling.
  • Monitor KPIs such as cycle times, downtime, and defect rates to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Utilize lean principles and 80/20 tools to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Sources and plans: installs new equipment and ensures that it operates correctly; trains others to operate new machinery.
  • Train and support production staff on new processes, equipment, and technologies.
  • Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment and partners with manufacturer to support equipment repair.
  • Develops and implements manufacturing, production and ISO certification procedures and processes.
  • Assists with EH&S projects to maintain a safe manufacturing environment.
  • Maintains knowledge of new and developing manufacturing technology; recommends new technology and processes.
  • Support potential automation initiatives for assembly and inspection processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within scope of position.
