Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated in Boston is seeking a Manufacturing Digital Systems Co‑Op for a 6‑month, full‑time program. You will support digital tools, create user‑friendly training materials, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve MES and PI data workflows.

You will gain hands‑on experience with MES, PI data historian, and Tulip, while contributing to training, documentation, and data insights in a biotechnology setting.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Business, or a related discipline.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, user‑friendly documentation.
• Analytical mindset with an ability to collect, organize, interpret, and communicate data.
• Detail‑oriented approach to reviewing documentation, tracking follow‑up actions, and maintaining accurate records.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a cross‑functional team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; must not require sponsorship for internships/co‑ops.
• Must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before May 2027.
• Must be available to work full‑time, 40 hours per week from January - July 2027.

Responsibilities

• Support improvements that enhance the experience of end users across Manufacturing digital systems, including PI, MES, and Tulip.
• Review and update existing MES job aids to ensure accuracy and alignment with current system functionality and processes.
• Help develop new MES job aids, quick‑reference guides, visual instructions, and other user‑support materials.
• Review open MES worksheets weekly/biweekly, identify owners, and prepare follow‑ups to close items.
• Maintain trackers for open worksheets, user feedback, system issues, and support requests.
• Gather feedback from PI and MES users to assess adoption, usability, and training needs.
• Analyze feedback and data to identify themes and opportunities for training or system enhancements.
• Assist with collecting, organizing, validating, and analyzing Manufacturing data and performance metrics.
• Create clear summaries, reports, and visualizations to communicate trends and actions to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Digital Technology, Quality, and cross‑functional partners on digital initiatives.
• Follow site procedures, quality standards, documentation practices, and data integrity expectations.
