Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals offers a six-month Mechanical Automation Co-Op in the Boston area with hybrid/on-site eligibility. The program focuses on automating machinery and processes to scale life-saving therapies, providing real project work with a supportive, inclusive culture.

You will design mechanisms and automated equipment, contribute to drawings, BOMs, and maintenance procedures, and collaborate across scientists, engineers, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Design skills required.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D modeling and related drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical drawings standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Automating Machinery & Processes team to streamline manufacturing and improve reliability.
• Design or contribute to the design process of mechanisms, robotics, IMRs, and automated equipment.
• Produce detailed design specifications, drawings, BOMs, manuals, and maintenance procedures.
