Jobtailor in San Diego seeks a Senior Software Program Manager to lead a 10–20 person team through the full SDLC in an Agile environment, aligning delivery with contractual cost, schedule, and technical requirements.

You will provide technical guidance, mentor staff, manage risks, and coordinate with DevOps, Systems Engineering, and Testing to ensure successful delivery while maintaining security clearances. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in STEM; 8+ years related engineering experience; OR Master’s in STEM with 6+ years; OR PhD with 4+ years.
Experience leading with Agile (Product Owner/Scrum Master or team member).
Experience with full SDLC.
Experience with real-time/flight-critical/safety-critical/medical/mission-critical software.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of 10–20 through the full SDLC in an Agile environment.
Plan, execute, and deliver software products meeting contractual cost, schedule, and technical requirements.
Report Agile metrics and EVMS status to Sub IPT lead and program leaders.
Manage and communicate program and technical risks.
Collaborate with Software Development, Systems Engineering, Test Automation, DevOps, and Systems Test.
Provide technical guidance, leadership, and mentoring.
Provide functional management to direct reports, including staffing and onboarding; disciplinary actions.
Travel up to 25% may be required.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of approximately 10–20 individuals through the full Software Development Life Cycle in an Agile environment
Lead planning, execution, and delivery of software products meeting contractual cost, schedule, and technical requirements as a work package manager
Report Agile metrics and EVMS status to the Sub IPT lead and other program leaders
Manage and communicate program and technical risks
Collaborate with Software Development, Systems Engineering, Test Automation, DevOps, and Systems Test organizations
Provide technical guidance, leadership, and mentoring
Provide functional management to direct reports, including career guidance, staffing, interviewing/onboarding, disciplinary actions, and direct engagement
Travel up to 25% may be required

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related engineering experience
Prior leadership experience using Agile development, including participating as Product Owner, Scrum Master, and/or team member in an Agile development environment
Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Experience developing software used for real-time applications: flight critical software, safety critical software, medical software, or mission critical software
At least 4 years of recent relevant experience with at least two of: C, C++, Java, and Python
Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR) prior to commencement of employment
Ability to obtain and maintain subsequent SAP PARs following commencement
Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance (preferred)
Active USG Top Secret SCI clearance with recent background investigation or Continuous Evaluation (preferred)
Experience developing proposal inputs, cost account management, and resource planning (preferred)
Experience with embedded software architectures and requirements
Experience with hardware interfaces in software architecture
Frontend framework experience such as JavaFx, Java Swing, or Angular
High proficiency with Docker and/or Kubernetes containers
Experience with microservices, GUI applications, threading, object-oriented programming, design patterns, DDS messaging, web technologies, UML, databases, and SQL/NoSQL
