Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced software engineering leader to define, develop, and drive real-time air/space software in an Agile environment. You will own architecture, translate system requirements to software artifacts, manage suppliers, and lead DevSecOps and CI/CD across the project.

Strong leadership, security clearance, and deep experience in embedded, testing, and configuration management are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required.
Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
3+ years of technical leadership experience in ground and software system engineering.
3+ years as the technical leader of a software development or product deployment team.
5+ years of experience with DevOps and/or DevSecOps.
5+ years of experience with configuration management tools for Systems, Software, and Hardware design.
U.S. Person required for U.S. export control compliance.

Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.
Preferred: Advanced degree (MS/PhD) and leadership on aerospace/defense projects.

Responsibilities

Define, develop, and lead software development for real-time air and/or space systems in an Agile environment.
Own and maintain software architecture, focusing on interface clarity, stability, versioning, and maintainability.
Translate system-level requirements into software requirements and models with traceability to design, code, and test artifacts.
Manage supplier/subcontractor software deliverables.
Lead Agile delivery through sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and impediment removal.
Own backlog prioritization, define sprint goals, and ensure timely delivery of integration-ready increments.
Define and enforce software integration contracts, data models, and message definitions.
Ensure software testability and inclusion of unit, component, integration, SIL/HIL, and observability artifacts.
Lead DevSecOps and CI/CD practices, including repeatable builds, automated testing, artifact traceability, and deployments.
Coordinate delivery cadence with Integration & Test and controlled configuration baselines.
Drive verification and validation execution, analyze test results, and triage defects.
Establish and track delivery metrics to improve predictability and quality.
Coach and mentor engineers on Agile practices, test automation, CI/CD, code quality, and observability.
Manage software delivery and integration risks and issues.
Document integration results and test findings and provide inputs for design reviews and readiness assessments.
