Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is seeking a Claims Counsel for its Management Liability Claims Unit. This role manages EPL, D&O, Fiduciary, and Crime claims nationwide, requiring 3–7 years of complex claims experience and a JD licensed to practice law. Hybrid schedule: in-office Mon-Wed with remote options Thu-Fri; fully remote arrangements may be considered for ideal candidates.

Travel about 1 day per month. Candidates must demonstrate strong negotiation, coverage analysis, and leadership in coordinating

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required.
• Licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction you will be working.
• 3-7 years of management liability claim experience, including EPL, D&O, fiduciary liability.
• Excellent coverage analysis skills with experience drafting coverage position letters.
• Experience handling litigated files and directing defense counsel is a plus.
• Excellent negotiation skills and willingness to travel (~1 day/month).
• Claims licensure as required by state(s).
• Excellent oral and written communication; ability to organize and multi-task.
• Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not required now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Handle Management Liability Claims (EPL, D&O, Fiduciary, Crime) for private and non-profit clients.
• Analyze, investigate, negotiate, and resolve claims within authority.
• Direct and manage defense counsel, including budgets.
• Develop litigation strategy and attend mediations and trials.
• Verify coverage and prepare loss reports for management.
• Maintain 24-hour contact with stakeholders throughout claims.
