Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is seeking a Claims Counsel in the Management Liability Claims Unit capable of handling complex national claims across EPL, D&O, Fiduciary, and Crime lines. The role involves extensive coverage analysis, negotiation, and strategic litigation management with a hybrid work option from office on some days and remote on others.

The ideal candidate will have 3–7 years of management liability claims experience, possess a JD, and be licensed to practice law.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate credential required.
• Licensed to practice law in relevant jurisdiction.
• 3–7 years in management liability claims handling.
• Experience with EPL, D&O, Fiduciary, and Crime coverages.
• Excellent negotiation and coverage analysis skills.
• Willingness to travel ~1 day per month.

Responsibilities

• Handle Management Liability Claims (EPL, D&O, Fiduciary, Crime) for private/non-profit clients nationwide.
• Analyze, investigate, negotiate, and resolve claims within authority limits.
• Direct and manage defense counsel, including budgeting and strategy.
• Attend mediations, settlements, and trials; develop disposition strategy.
• Verify coverage and prepare loss/resource reports for management.
• Maintain 24-hour contact with stakeholders and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Identify recovery/contribution opportunities and set timely reserves.
