Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is seeking a Claims Counsel for its Management Liability Claims Unit. This role handles complex claims across EPL, D&O, Fiduciary and Crime on a national basis, with hybrid work options from our offices or remote arrangements for ideal candidates.

The successful candidate will have 3-7 years of management liability experience, a JD, and strong negotiation and coverage analysis skills, plus the ability to lead defense counsel and manage budgets.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required.
• Licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction where you will work.
• 3-7 years management liability claim experience (EPL, D&O, Fiduciary).
• Excellent coverage analysis skills with experience drafting coverage positions.
• Experience handling litigated files and directing defense counsel a plus.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Willing to travel, about 1 day per month.
• Claims licensure as required by state(s); CPCU beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Handle Management Liability Claims (EPL, D&O, Fiduciary and Crime) for Private and Non-Profit businesses.
• Analyze, investigate, negotiate and resolve claims within authority levels.
• Select and manage defense counsel including budgets.
• Develop litigation strategy and attend mediations, settlements and trials.
• Verify applicable coverage and draft position letters.
• Prepare management reports reflecting loss development and exposure.
• Maintain 24-hour contact with stakeholders throughout the claim life.
• Support partners on claim/underwriting issues as needed.
• Maintain resident/nonresident adjuster licenses as required.
