Job summary

IAT Insurance Group in the United States is seeking a Claims Counsel for its Management Liability Claims Unit. The role handles complex claims across EPL, D&O, fiduciary and crime coverages for private and nonprofit clients, on a national basis.

Hybrid schedule with in-office Monday through Wednesday and the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday. Fully remote arrangements may be considered for the ideal candidate; requires 3–7 years of management liability claims experience and a Juris

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required.
• Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
• 3-7 years management liability claim experience.
• Excellent coverage analysis and response drafting skills.
• Experience directing defense counsel and handling litigated files.
• Willingness to travel (avg 1 day per month).
• Claims licensure as required by state(s); CPCU beneficial.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organization, multi-tasking and prioritization.

Responsibilities

• Handle Management Liability Claims (EPL, D&O, Fiduciary, Crime) for Private and Non-Profit clients nationwide.
• Analyze, investigate, negotiate and resolve claims within authority; manage defense budgets.
• Direct and supervise defense counsel; approve budgets and strategy.
• Develop litigation strategy; attend mediations, settlement conferences and trials.
• Verify coverage and prepare coverage letters as needed.
• Prepare reports reflecting loss exposure, recovery strategies and development.
• Maintain 24-hour contact with stakeholders throughout claims.
• Identify recovery/contribution/SIU opportunities; maintain licenses as required.
• Draft communications; support underwriting and marketing as needed.
• Maintain resident/nonresident adjuster licenses; perform other duties.
