Job summary

Wellstar Cobb Breast and X-Ray Center seeks a Mammography Technologist to deliver safe, high-quality imaging and compassionate patient care in a full-time role. The position supports a Monday–Friday 8:00am–4:30pm schedule, with duties including performing mammography exams, ensuring image quality, patient instruction, and accurate documentation in PACS/RIS.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist
• Minimum 1 year of mammography experience in a hospital
• ARRT-R (Radiography), ARRT-M (Mammography), BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association

Responsibilities

• Perform mammography exams per physician order and protocol, confirming patient identity with two unique identifiers.
• Gather relevant history, screen for contraindications, and explain the exam clearly (AIDET) to reduce anxiety.
• Protect patient privacy, dignity, and comfort while positioning patients safely and assisting with transfers as needed.
• Review images for quality and completeness, maintaining a strong first-time acceptance rate before releasing patients.
• Use sound clinical judgment, clarify unclear orders and assist in emergencies or across imaging areas when needed.
• Operate mammography equipment safely, optimize dose and technique, and keep equipment clean and ready per infection control/FDA guidelines.
• Perform and document required QC tests including Phantom, Visual Checklist, Repeat Analysis, Compression tests, and DICOM Printer Test.
• Ensure all images are accurately labeled, oriented, and documented in PACS/RIS; complete daily charge capture for procedures.
• Keep the mammography suite clean and stocked; apply shielding and immobilization devices appropriately.
• Provide clear pre- and post-exam instructions and address questions or elevate to providers.
• Maintain concise, timely documentation; stay current with emails and required education.
• Communicate professionally, work well in a fast-paced team, and bring strong skills in anatomy, pathology, positioning, radiation safety, and mammography best practices.
