The Polo Room Palm Beach seeks a Maître D’ to lead front-of-house in our upscale Palm Beach restaurant. You will instill hospitality, manage reservations, and ensure an exceptional guest experience in a warm, welcoming environment.

You will oversee service flow, train hosts, coordinate with the kitchen, and leverage our CRM program to build relationships with regular guests. This full-time, on-site role offers competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Maitre D' to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for instilling a spirit of hospitality throughout the restaurant, ensuring an exceptional guest experience with a focus on creating a warm and welcoming environment. This position is ultimately responsible for the flow of service and is responsible for maximizing the book while ensuring smooth operations. The Maitre D' also has an integral role in our CRM Program and cultivating relationships with our Neighbors and Regulars. Your exceptional customer service skills will help set the tone for an enjoyable dining experience.

Duties

• Setting the standard for hospitality, leading by example
• Coordinate service and floor plan through door management .
• Manage all reservations, including pacing, table allocation, guest profiles, pre-arrival notes and communication with management.
• Monitor and update guest profiles, special events, and pre-orders.
• Manage reservations and seating charts to optimize table turnover and guest satisfaction.
• Assist in coordinating wait times and communicate effectively with guests regarding their seating status.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front-of-house area, including the host stand.
• Handle phone inquiries with professionalism, providing information about the restaurant’s offerings.
• Address guest concerns promptly and courteously to enhance their dining experience.
• Use pre-shift meetings as a forum to improve service and communicate regarding guests (daily cover forecasts, reservation reports, and guest notes)
• Ensure all pre-orders, allergies, and special occasions are communicated to the service and culinary teams.
• Collaborate with floor managers and kitchen to manage flow and turn times.
• Maintain cleanliness and order at the host stand and entry areas at all times.
• Train, mentor, and lead the host team in greeting standards, phone etiquette, guest communication, and system proficiency.
• Conduct ongoing training sessions to reinforce hospitality standards and technical know-how (Resy / Open Table - Host Manual).
• Ensure all hosts are proficient in handling high-volume service with composure.

Skills

• 3+ years in a lead host , Maître D’ role in a luxury or fine dining environment.
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to lead and inspire a front-of-house team in a fast-paced, service-driven environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
• Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Experience supporting special events and large group coordination.
• Strong customer service skills with a focus on hospitality and guest relations.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with guests and team members.
• Familiarity with POS systems such as Toast
• Proficient phone etiquette to manage reservations and inquiries efficiently.
• Be a leader of training – for both new hires and ongoing training of staff
