About the Role

Our client, a well-established entity in the manufacturing and production industry, is seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician (Industrial) to ensure the optimal functioning of their plant and equipment in Upington, Northern Cape . This hands-on role is critical for minimizing downtime and maintaining high operational standards by performing routine maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing machinery. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, and a commitment to workplace safety. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on all industrial machinery and equipment according to schedules.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on production machinery.
• Install, calibrate, and test new equipment as required.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair needs.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are documented accurately in the maintenance log.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized workshop and work areas.
• Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory for critical equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and identify root causes of recurring problems.
• Collaborate with production teams to minimize impact on production schedules during maintenance.

Requirements

• Trade Qualification (e.g., Electrician, Fitter and Turner, Millwright) or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools and maintenance equipment.
• Experience with troubleshooting and repairing various types of industrial machinery.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations in a manufacturing setting.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
• Must be willing to work in the Upington, Northern Cape facility, including potential shift work or on-call duties.
