About the Role

Our client, a significant player in the Manufacturing & Production sector, is looking for a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape. This role is essential for ensuring the operational continuity and efficiency of the plant by maintaining all machinery and equipment in optimal working condition. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, and the ability to diagnose and repair equipment failures effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on all production machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on various types of equipment.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to perform maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain a detailed log of all maintenance activities, including repairs and preventative tasks performed.
• Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
• Assist with the installation of new machinery and equipment.
• Identify potential maintenance issues and recommend proactive solutions.
• Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and tools.
• Adhere to good housekeeping practices in the maintenance workshop and production areas.

Requirements

• Technical qualification or certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related trade.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in reading technical diagrams and schematics.
• Knowledge of various types of industrial machinery and their maintenance requirements.
• Understanding of safety procedures and regulations in a plant environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
