Placements24 is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our East London operation, to ensure reliability of industrial machinery and facility equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, and contribute to safe operating practices.

The role requires a trade certificate or equivalent and at least 3 years' experience in manufacturing, with the ability to read blueprints and work independently or in a team. East London/Eastern Cape experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on all industrial machinery and equipment according to schedule.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production machinery.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and malfunctions, minimizing downtime.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to perform repairs.
• Conduct regular inspections of the facility and equipment to identify potential problems.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Participate in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Assist in maintaining an adequate stock of spare parts and tools.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and reducing maintenance costs.
