Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support our client’s manufacturing facility in Welkom, Free State. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems, and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime.

The role requires at least 3 years in a manufacturing setting, proficiency with AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, hydraulics, and gearboxes, plus the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

• Completed apprenticeship or relevant technical qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in manufacturing/industrial settings.
• Proficient diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical systems including motors, hydraulics, and gearboxes.
• Able to read complex drawings and schematics; strong troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair faults in machinery, control systems, and plant infrastructure.
• Install and commission new equipment as required.
• Implement and manage preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.

• Ability to read and understand complex technical drawings and schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and lockout/tagout protocols.
• Willingness to work shifts and be available for call-outs as needed.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Welkom, Free State .
