Job summary

AvalonBay Communities, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Mountain View, CA. You will diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical and other systems, complete work orders, and keep residents' homes in excellent condition. The role includes preventative maintenance, painting support, and adhering to safety policies.

Ideal candidates have 2-3 years in maintenance, a valid license, and the ability to work an on-call schedule while delivering great customer service to residents and teams.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of maintenance experience, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical work.
• Valid driver's license.
• On-call schedule rotation with the team.
• Ability to communicate with residents and associates.
• Ability to read policies including maintenance policies and SDS.
• Knowledge of PPE and chemical handling.
• Basic understanding of emergency systems and shutoffs.
• Knowledge of paint types and tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs HVAC, electrical, plumbing, appliances and related systems.
• Complete service requests per standards and in a timely manner.
• Ensure vacant apartments are rent-ready and perform turnkey work when needed.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on units and systems.
• Assist in painting interior and exterior surfaces.
• Maintain safety culture and report hazards.
• Perform hot works such as brazing and welding per standards.
