Job summary

AvalonBay Communities, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to diagnose and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing and appliances, while keeping the community safe and well maintained.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in maintenance work, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical skills.
• Ability to accommodate an on-call schedule in rotation with the team each month.
• Ability to communicate with associates and residents to provide customer service.
• Ability to read and understand policies and procedures including maintenance policies and SDS.
• Knowledge of PPE and safe chemical handling.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs HVAC, electrical, plumbing, appliances, carpentry and safety systems.
• Completes service requests and repairs timely and to standards.
• Ensures vacant apartments are rent-ready promptly.
• Performs preventative maintenance and turnkey work as required.
• Maintains safety culture by following policies and reporting hazards.
• Performs hot works (brazing, soldering, welding) per standards.
