Job summary

AvalonBay Communities, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform hands-on maintenance, respond to service requests, and prepare market-ready apartments across our communities. The role includes preventative maintenance, grounds upkeep, and occasional after-hours emergency support.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic plumbing/electrical knowledge, and good English communication skills. A valid driver’s license and smartphone are required for this role.

Qualifications

• Must be able to troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electricals, appliances and HVAC where applicable.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; EPA 608 certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record and transportation may be required.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English; effective multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Address resident service requests promptly and perform hands-on maintenance.
• Perform preventative maintenance and manage common area upkeep.
• Prepare market-ready apartments and inspect grounds for repairs.
• Respond to emergency calls after hours and on weekends as needed.
