The role emphasizes diagnosing problems, performing repairs across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, and maintaining safety standards within the community. A valid driver’s license and on-call flexibility are required.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in maintenance work.
• HVAC repair, Plumbing, Electrical, and General Maintenance knowledge.
• Ability to communicate with associates and residents.
• Reading and understanding policies and procedures.
• Understanding of SDS and proper chemical handling.
• Knowledge of PPE and safety practices.
• Basic understanding of emergency systems and operations.
• Familiarity with paint types and tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs problems in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, major appliances, carpentry, emergency systems, flooring, and more.
• Completes service requests and repairs per company standards and in a timely manner.
• Ensures vacant apartment homes are rent-ready promptly.
• Performs preventative maintenance for apartments.
• Assists in painting both interior and exterior surfaces.
• Maintains a safety culture by following AvalonBay policies and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Performs hot works including brazing, soldering, and welding within standards.
