Job summary

UniFirst is hiring a Maintenance Tech I to join our on-site maintenance team. You will repair, maintain, install, and troubleshoot industrial equipment and systems while following blueprints and specs. The role requires basic math, reading blueprints, and the ability to operate tools and safety protocols.

On-site work with periodic overtime is expected. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, a 18+ age, and at least 6 months of maintenance experience in an industrial setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
• Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment.
• Minimum 6 months’ experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment.
• Military experience will be considered.
• Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment test.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand/power tools, precision measurement tools, and electronic testing devices.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery, mechanical electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, operation manuals, and manufacturers instructions.
• Troubleshoot sources of equipment problems using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatments and adjust chemicals as required.
• Conduct daily/weekly safety checks on boilers and perform repairs as needed.
• Record and analyze meter readings and take corrective actions as necessary.
• Perform daily/weekly location/system safety checks and address concerns.
• Inspect, clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts as per procedures.
• Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
