Job summary

UniFirst is hiring a Maintenance Tech I to support repairs, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment. The role includes safe operation, reading schematics, and performing preventive maintenance with on-the-job training.

Must have a HS diploma or GED; a 2-year technical degree is preferred. Expect overtime and a Monday–Friday schedule with occasional nights and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must read blueprints and schematics.
• Lockout/Tagout experience required.
• Basic computer skills including MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Use hand/power tools and measurement devices to maintain equipment.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Follow blueprints, manuals, and specs for repairs.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues with precision instruments.
• Test boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treat systems; log results and adjust as needed.
• Perform boiler safety checks and repairs; monitor utility meters and take actions.
• Conduct daily/weekly safety checks and maintain equipment per procedures.
• Inspect, clean, lubricate components and replace worn parts as needed.
• Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System for tasks.
