Job summary

The Texas Workforce Commission seeks a Maintenance Specialist to join the facilities Operations and Maintenance team in Austin, providing a safe, comfortable environment for agency staff. The role involves hands-on building maintenance, carpentry, electrical and plumbing tasks, and coordinating with licensed professionals.

Responsibilities include inspecting systems, estimating material costs, maintaining work-order records, and occasionally leading other staff.

Qualifications

Four years of full-time experience in building maintenance, carpentry, painting, electricity, plumbing, heating and air conditioning, or automotive repair.
Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, construction, and repair work such as painting or mechanical tasks.
Perform carpentry work including installation, alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings, doors, windows, fixtures and furniture.
Inspect operating machinery, equipment, utility systems and building accessories to ensure proper maintenance and repair.
Calculate material and labor costs and order parts and supplies.
Maintain records on work orders or projects.
Assist licensed electricians in maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and circuits.
Assist licensed plumbers in installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems and components.
Perform other duties as assigned.
