Job summary

City of Austin Parks and Recreation is seeking a Maintenance Worker II to perform building construction, inspections, repairs, and grounds maintenance across APR facilities and grounds.

The role requires carpentry, plumbing, drywall, painting, and power tool skills, with occasional travel to multiple sites. Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; driving and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two years of custodial, building maintenance or construction work.
• Experience may substitute for the education up to four years.
• Valid Texas Class C Operator's License or ability to obtain one by hire date.

Responsibilities

• Inspects buildings and equipment for needed repairs and maintenance.
• Performs minor repairs to tables, chairs, cabinets, etc.
• Installs or replaces floor and ceramic tiles.
• Repairs or replaces electric plugs and cords.
• Operates power tools and reads simple blueprints.
• Carpentry, painting, plumbing, and drywall tasks as assigned.
