Job summary

Travis County’s Facilities Management Department seeks a skilled building maintenance lead to service county facilities across Austin. The role covers carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical work, and machine servicing, with responsibility to guide a team and oversee preventive maintenance.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED with 5 years of experience, EPA universal certification and a Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with at least 5 years of building maintenance experience.
• Equivalent education/experience combination acceptable as per job requirements.
• EPA Universal Certification is preferred; must obtain within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead building maintenance staff and provide technical guidance.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment.
• Inspect facilities, report needs, and schedule service work.
• Repair electrical, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, and other systems.
• Maintain safety and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Assist with remodeling and upgrades as needed.
