Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to keep our plant facilities operating safely and efficiently. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems, and repair equipment on a fast-paced meat processing line.

This role offers competitive hourly pay ($22.50–$35.50/hr) with a $1.30/hr third shift differential, a $2,500 sign-on bonus, and relocation assistance for eligible candidates. Emphasis on GMPs, safety, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or 4 years of related experience in food manufacturing.
• Technical/Vocational diploma or associate degree in maintenance preferred.
• Ability to work in a team and interact with all levels; follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventive maintenance to keep production lines running smoothly.
• Inspect, test, and repair equipment; dismantle and replace faulty parts; restore full functionality.
• Operate forklifts and other PIT equipment; maintain lubrication and cleaning of key components.
• Adhere to safety protocols (LOCKOUT/TAGOUT) and GMPs to maintain a safe work environment.
